THE BEACON ADVANTAGE

PROMOTING BRIGHTER FUTURES

At BEACON in Arizona, we believe every foster youth deserves a real chance to succeed. Yet only 33% graduate high school in four years—far below the state average of 78%. From there, just 3–4% earn a four-year degree, and 2–6% complete a two-year program. Without stable support, mentorship, and resources, these youth aren’t just at risk—they’re being left behind. BEACON exists to change that, offering the guidance and opportunity they need to build brighter futures through education and beyond.

PEER-CENTERED APPROACH

Our child-centered approach focuses on understanding the unique needs and aspirations of each child, tailoring our support to provide them with a sense of security and empowerment.

At BEACON, we aim to empower young lives and nurture their potential, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement to overcome challenges and achieve their dreams.

Founder

I am a junior at Desert Mountain High School and the founder of BEACON, which I created with the belief that education should be accessible to every child. I especially care about raising awareness of the challenges they face and helping make sure they have the support and resources to succeed. Through exposure to the realities faced by many foster youth, I was inspired to lead BEACON’s tutoring and outreach efforts to help create lasting opportunities for success.

Co-Founder

I am a junior at BASIS Scottsdale and cofounder of BEACON. I believe in the mission of BEACON because I believe that a true community is immensely capable when it has its sights set on a goal. I hope to not only bring awareness of the pitfalls of the foster care system to our communities around the valley, but to bring initiative into our communities, allowing them to do their part in making a difference.
